HOW IT WORKS

From statehouse to shipped code in under 90 days.

A new regulation travels through six stages on our side before it hits your engineer's queue. No lawyer-speak. No PDFs. One standard format, one clock.

Short version: we watch every US regulator that affects payroll or HR software. When a rule changes, we rewrite it as a specific product ticket — what code to change, what screen to update, what to tell your customers, and when it needs to ship. Then we route it to the person on your team who owns that piece of the product.

The Pipeline

The 6-phase RegWatch pipeline

01
INGEST

We see it coming.

Every bill, every agency action, every enforcement letter across 51 US jurisdictions gets picked up within 24 hours from LegiScan, MultiState, the Federal Register, and curated regulator feeds.

02
CLASSIFY

We figure out if it matters to you.

Each item gets tagged by rule type, jurisdiction, severity, and which of your product surfaces it hits. We drop the ones that don't affect payroll or HR software. You only see what's relevant.

03
COUNTDOWN

We start a countdown.

The effective date is T-0. We fire six alerts before that: 90, 60, 30, 14, and 7 days out, then on the day itself, plus a 30-day post-live review. If a milestone slips, it escalates.

04
CHANGEORDER

We turn it into a ticket.

Each rule becomes one document with the code path, the data field, the UI screen, the test cases, a draft customer email, the support runbook, the role owner, and the audit trail. Engineering can read it and act on it — no translation needed.

05
ROUTE

We send it to the right person.

The same rule can mean different work for product, engineering, payroll ops, security, and customer success. Each role gets the version of the ChangeOrder that applies to them — same clock, different task list.

06
AUDIT

We leave a record regulators can read.

Every dispatch, acknowledgment, escalation, and close-out is written to an append-only log. Exportable to CSV with an integrity hash. Works for SOC 2 evidence and for your GC's file.

Every rule is anchored to an enforced dollar figure

We don't just track rules. We attach each one to the real enforcement action that puts a dollar sign next to it — so when your CFO, GC, or board asks "how big is this?", there's a case and a number, not a guess. The $650M Facebook BIPA settlement. The $5.8M FTC settlement against Ring. The first $365K EEOC AI-hiring case (iTutorGroup, 2023). New York City's first AI-hiring enforcement actions. Colorado AG enforcement letters to workplace AI vendors. Your legal team already knows these cases. RegWatch puts them on the same page as the rule that cited them.
